PRIMARY FUNCTION(S): As a member of the Teaching, Learning and Research unit in the blended ITS and Libraries department of Learning, Research and Technology, conduct and assess course-related library instruction and other instructional activities for a broad range of classes, primarily in the arts, humanities and social sciences. Serve as the library's instruction liaison to departments in the arts, humanities and social sciences. Participate in the Libraries' full range of in-person and email reference and research services as a member of Teaching, Learning and Research.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide library instruction, reference, and research assistance for a broad range of classes, primarily in arts, humanities and social sciences.
  • Provide specialized guidance on research methods and resources, both print and electronic, across multiple interfaces of licensed online databases and relevant internet resources.
  • Provide general reference service -- point of service, on-call, virtual -- along with other members of Teaching, Learning and Research.
  • Other duties as assigned


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Experience:
  • Master's degree in library science from an ALA-accredited program or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two years' experience in libraries working with academic departments in the arts, humanities and social sciences.


Skills:
  • A strong commitment to public service; knowledge of current issues and methods of library instruction/information literacy for undergraduate students in the sciences; familiarity with arts, humanities and social science resources and research; excellent oral and written communication skills; demonstrated ability to work flexibly, independently and collaboratively with colleagues and library users in a rapidly changing service-oriented environment.
  • Familiarity with academic library databases and interfaces (EBSCO,ProQuest, Gale), arts, humanities and social science databases, content management systems (LibGuides), Google Suite, and citation management software (Zotero) is desirable, but not required.
